About Us

My name is Andy Green, a wildlife photographer from Kent and I run Pond & Perch Wildlife Ltd with my wife Ashley. We have been planning to build and launch our hides for years and are very excited to finally have them up and running!

The ‘Pond Hide and Perch Hide’ are nestled in ancient woodland outside of the county town of Kent, Maidstone and are fully set up for all levels of photographer as well as those keen to simply sit and enjoy spotting wildlife.

Benefiting from being situated in the heart of a private, secluded wood, the hides attract a large variety of birds as well as deer, squirrels, foxes, mice and voles. It truly is a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

About the hides

The Perch Hide is a well equipped, cosy place to spend a day photographing wildlife in comfort. With a capacity of 1-2 (even 3 in a friendly group!) we offer a little slice of tranquility in the Kent countryside on your own or with others. For photographers there are 2 seated positions and 1 standing, this gives ample opportunity to capture those unique angles and compositions wherever you are in the hide. We have a gimbal head track slider as well as camera bean bags and tripod head mounts so we have you covered for all set ups. We even have a selection of bird and wildlife reference books so you can be sure of what you’ve spotted!

The Pond Hide offers a slightly different “in the field” type experience with views across our new Pond area to the front and open fields to the back. Lots of bird life visits for bathing and drinking whilst our resident voles, badgers, squirrels, and pheasants also stop by regularly, if you’re lucky the local buzzards will also soar above you throughout the day!

The Perch Hide will be well equipped for your visit so we would suggest you bring your SLR/DSLR/Mirrorless camera and any tripod heads you prefer to use and also a tripod or monopod for the Pond Hide. We do have a ball head and a gimbal head available as well as a track slider too. We would also recommend lenses in the range of 300mm-600mm to get the best results. Some of the perches are very close to the hide and so below 300mm is possible, just not perfect for the whole day. We also recommend bringing spare batteries and memory cards just in case.
